Purdue University Joins SkillsWave

Most Recognized U.S. Public University Is Now Part of the SkillsWave Education Network

[KITCHENER & WEST LAFAYETTE, INDIANA, September 4, 2024] SkillsWave, an upskilling company that provides a network of high-quality education options to propel businesses and their employees forward, announced today that Purdue University is a new partner. Purdue will add their industry-leading degree programs to the SkillsWave catalog, including a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI), an AI Microcredentials Program, engineering programs including industrial and nuclear, and business programs featuring economics, human resource management and global supply chain management.

Purdue’s online programs available to working professionals through this partnership offer its world-renowned faculty and top-notch academics, all within a convenient and flexible format. Online students benefit from the same rigorous curriculum, with the added advantage of a more flexible class schedule, including self-paced learning options.

Upskilling is becoming ever-more important, particularly in the surging semiconductor industry associated with Purdue. The university has received a nearly $4 billion investment from chip maker SK hynix to create an advanced packaging fabrication and R&D facility for AI products in the Purdue Research Park. The new facility empowers production of next-generation high-bandwidth memory chips—essential for graphic processing units that train AI systems like ChatGPT—and is anticipated to create over 800 new jobs in Indiana.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Purdue to the SkillsWave family, adding another trusted education option for our corporate partners” said Sasha Thackaberry, President at SkillsWave. “This strategic partnership will provide essential skills to learners in a thriving industry as we continue to grow in the U.S. market. We’re excited for the quality academic experiences and top-rated education offerings Purdue will offer for adult learners of our corporate partners.”

“We couldn’t be happier to be partnering with SkillsWave to expand Purdue’s reach to their network of corporate partners and their learners,” said Dimitrios Peroulis, Purdue senior vice president for partnerships and online. “Being able to help adult students gain new skills in emerging and relevant fields through our high-quality programs will continue to drive our mission to help build a better world, together.”
