D2L Announces Spin-Out of D2L Wave Into SkillsWave

D2L Wave to Become Standalone Company, SkillsWave 

[KITCHENER, June 20, 2024] D2L, a global learning technology company, announced on April 3, 2024 that it entered a binding letter agreement to spin-out D2L Wave (“Wave”). It will become SkillsWave Corporation (“SkillsWave”), an independent standalone company on June 29, 2024. John Baker will be the executive chair of SkillsWave and Sasha Thackaberry, senior vice president of Wave, has been named as president of the new company. 

The Wave upskilling technology was created in 2020 to empower businesses to invest in corporate learning to address skill and talent gaps. SkillsWave will continue this mission, building on the strong foundation established by Wave. Wave’s partners and clients will be able to expect increased investment in the business, to accelerate the already impressive growth.
